Pediatrician Dr. Joanna Dolgoff answers your questions about childhood obesity

NBC News' Rehema Ellis spoke with Dr. Joanna Dolgoff about the risk of children becoming overweight later in life and the importance of family support.

Childhood obesity may be established as early as kindergarten according to a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers at Emory University found nearly half of kids who are categorized as obese by the eighth grade were overweight in kindergarten.

Is your child overweight or are you concerned your child is becoming obese? On Wednesday, Dr. Joanna Dolgoff answered questions online about childhood obesity and how you can play a role in keeping your child healthy. You can view a transcript of the web chat below.

Dolgoff, a pediatrician, is the author of the book "Red Light, Green Light, Eat Right."
