Shoe shiner donates more than $202,000 in tips to children's health fund

Since 1981 Albert Lexie has given all of his tips to the Free Care Fund at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh – a shining example of true service. NBC's Ron Mott reports.

Albert Lexie has earned a lot of tips during his decades of work as a shoe shiner at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh  -- more than $200,000, in fact.

But instead of keeping that money for himself, he has given it away.

Every extra dollar he earned was given to The Free Care Fund at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, which helps ensure children receive quality care regardless of their families’ ability to pay. To learn more please visit the Free Care Fund website.
