I see from a report on another website, Brian has not told you, his viewers, yet about Obama voting present again as he did most of his time as a state legislator and a U.S. Senator. He campaigned that he was the one to make the tough decisions that needed made by a president. Now he had the opportunity to make a tough call on the Keystone XL pipeline and he votes present. He says he wants to see another study on alternate routes and guess what. This takes the decision past the 2012 election. "How Convenient" He has been on a 2 month "WE CAN'T WAIT" campaign for jobs and he votes present on a project that would create 20,000, good paying, jobs plus right away.

These jobs must not have supported the right union boss.

Hate to wish my life away but November 2012 cannot come fast enough.

11--11--11 happens once in a lifetime. Place your bets (but not the time to hedge your bets) and

make a wish (so don't wish your life away) and have a nice weekend.

Has Robert Bazell ever reported a story that was not somehow intended to promote an NBC sponsor? Whenever the Nightly News producers want to use a sham "news story" to promote a medical or pharmaceutical product from Glaxo, Pfizer or Bayer, they give the job to Bazell. On May 12, 2009, he even did an entire two-minute story whose sole purpose was to extol the benefits of Cheerios, a major Nightly News advertiser. And now Bazell is branching out even further, into the realm of promoting NBC entertainment, which had heretofore been the domain of NBC news-shills like Kristen Welker, Tom Costello, Kerry Sanders and Anne Thompson. On Wednesday, Bazell started a story about a weight loss drug with a 12-second clip from NBC's "The Biggest Loser". Here's how Bazell began his story: "The popularity of the show 'The Biggest Loser' is one of the countless examples of people's desire to lose weight." So not only did Bazell shamelessly use a clip from an NBC entertainment show, he also made sure to tell us that the show was popular. And just for good measure, Bazell ended his story with another "Biggest Loser" clip. Let's be clear: Nightly News only aired this story because it presented an opportunity to plug "The Biggest Loser", a reality show that currently airs Tuesday nights on NBC. Obviously, Bazell, Brian Williams and the Nightly News producers work closely with the marketing and promotions staff at NBC entertainment (and NBC sports) to figure out ways to use Nightly News to promote NBC entertainment and sports shows (remember the 160 minutes of Olympic-related stories than Nightly News aired during the Vancouver Olympics?). Which news reports air on Nightly News is determined by the extent to which a particular report can be used to promote an NBC sports or entertainment show or an NBC sponsor. I would estimate that 70%-80% of all the stories that air on Nightly News have some sort of hidden promotional agenda. The NBC prime time schedule is currently mired in fourth place among the networks (and would be in much worse shape without Sunday Night Football). So it's hardly surprising that the NBC executives are using Nightly News in a desperate attempt to promote their prime time schedule. (There was an excellent article on NBC's prime time woes in Monday's New York Times business section. You can link to it at: ) So I guess it's no surprise that Robert Bazell is now shilling for NBC entertainment, in addition to his usual shill-work for Glaxo, Pfizer and Bayer.

On Thursday's Nightly News, the lead story was the sexual abuse scandal at Penn State University. The story was reported by Ron Mott. However, at the end of Mott's report, he was identified in a Nightly News graphic as "Ron Allen". Both Mott and Allen are African American males. So I think we have to at least consider the possibility that some of the Nightly News producers are challenged when it comes to differentiating between African American men. Whatever the reason, it's appalling that the Nightly News producers could not correctly identify their own correspondent. This is a professional news broadcast?

Thought for the day: If you air seven stories about whales in a two-month period (as Nightly News did) then you are not a professional news broadcast. If you air seventeen stories about Will & Kate (totalling more than 30 minutes) since July 1 (as Nightly News did--a full two months after their wedding), you are not a professional news broadcast.

The link to the New York Times article (by Bill Carter and Brian Stelter) did not print out in the above post. You can find the article by googling "New York Times NBC Struggles for Its Footing". I can guarantee you that Brian Williams won't be mentioning this article on Nightly News.

What a deal. Obama gives $433 million to a big donor in a no bid contract for a small pox drug that cannot be tested and we do not know if it will even work. Wis I would have thought of that scam.

Do you liberals remember all the fuss you put up about Halliburton??????????????????????????????? Should this not be treated the same way??????????????????????????????????????

interesting news and have learned Jack Abramoff has more then 100 law makers he has given money to for votes and tonight we will learn how the current Law Makers of both parties got to be millionaires so fast by inside trading. The Debate on CBS showed the direction our country will go with the new President. First order of business repeal Health care, end Federal funding, raise taxes on citizens and quickly bomb Iran for Israel by using same reason we bombed Iraq. Iran can't develop Nuclear weapons but the World knows Israel has many Nuclear Weapons/illegal Cluster bombs but Israel PM doesn't want to use his soldiers and Senator McCain did promise if he became President he would bomb Iran for our friends Israel. It was interesting to her the candidates say Obama has failed Foreign polices and is supporting OWS and not Israel. The vaccine Perry got paid to give the children in Texas to the poor is experimental. As you said Obama gives to donors taxpayers money for small pox. Donald Rumsfelt was the smartest man in the room as he invested 5000 dollars in the fake flue vaccine we learned much later was worthless and none effective but millions of Americans stood in line across the country for the medication funded by the US Government.

Now we're left to pick from the current candidates to replace Obama. Most have no idea about one country from another but would leave someone else to do the job while they sit in the White House. I'm looking at Herman Cain now because he said God called him Moses and asked him to be President. As I'm a Christian and believed God told Bush to be President, Cain might be the one. But Michele Bachmann had a point too as she called for Iraq to pay 1 million dollars for each man/woman we lost in the invasion and they should pay the US back for the trillions of dollars we spent on the War. Mitt was right on target as he would also invade Iran for Israel and even stop giving aid to the World which would be the US would end it's membership with the United Nations and go it alone. It seems the new mission for the Koch bros. is to get Republican/Tea Party control of each State by eliminating Democrats/Independent law makers. That has already worked in Virginia and looks like other some other Southern States might do the same.

God called me Diana and asked me to take on Jane Fonda but in my case it involved the police

and authorities, but I am philosopical, because I now own a Classic Diana 1 carat CZ ring with Diana

engraved inside the platium band. God works in mysterious ways It was His doing because I

prefer CZs to diamonds. Jackie, interesting posting and have a nice evening. Phyllis

Jackie, If I remember correctly, the Obama people wasted millions of dollars on a bird flu vaccine that if we did not act right away, it was going to wipe half the population of America. Never materialized and millions of doses were destroyed.
