Brian with so many Americans unemployed and those soon to be unemployed it seems the GOP have cleared up their mission for the next 14 months. As Speaker Boehner and other GOP leaders stood with pride to announce the following:
In a move without precedent in the modern era, Republican congressional leaders including House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz) have penned a letter to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke urging him not to take any steps to help the economy.
There is really nothing else to say as it's clear the mission the GOP/Tea Party is taking and how this will assure the President/USA fail.
If Benny and the Ink Jets (Hey Phyllis I got that one from Karl Denninger's Market Ticker blog) keep creating money out of thin air they are going to KILL the working poor and people on fixed incomes with inflation.
thanks, Dave, my husband and I are on a fixed income. Good
shape for the shape we are in, etc, but still on a fixed income.
it was a matter of time, but it sure was a long time for the two remaining hikers prisoner in iran. glad that it finally happened and they can come home with their families. kudos to the people that made it happen. best, anna martina
anna martina, good post, and I did not see the "bridge" movie. I am big
on Jung and Kierkegaard who said lack of faith is a sin not virtue and I
agree. Only the unattractive are virutous:o) What do you think of the
Russian writers? I love them. Phyllis
i don't remember reading russian writers, although i'm sure we did in high school, short stories. i think they are probably very dark because russian society for the masses was dark but even 'anna karenina' is dark. where should i start? i do love the russian cosmonauts, though:-) best, anna martina p.s. i cannot even begin to imagine having no faith, egads. it gets me through the minutes and the hours!
Dostoevsky is my favorite but I also like Tolstoy and Chekhov is terrific
and he has volumes of short stories. Faith gets me through the minutes
and hours too. I love that N.T. quote "Woman, your faith has made it
happen." Have a nice evening, anna martina
anna martina, I also recommend Tolstoy's Resurrection; people must suffer
a sea-change; confronted by the cataclysmic choice between resurrection or --
death (a no brainer). Also The Sea Change of Angela Lewes by Cynthia
Propper Seton, my sort of woman, A climacteric, among other things is a
point in human life in which some great change in constitution , health
or fortune is especially likely to occur. I am thinking the change in 1 Cor 15
and I firmly believe the year of 2011 is a climacteric period for us and
the world both. Phyllis
A-jad again played Ann Curry and NBC news for suckers. It was nothing more than extortion and publicity for his trip to the UNand he could brag about how human Iran is.
Three dumb kids go hiking and get caught and it cost someone $1,5 million dollars. That money most likely was coverup as foreign aid
i am putting a rain prayer on the altar for israel and palestine. rain would dramatically change the lives of the peoples in both areas.
bill clinton, Wired interview of december 2000, on game theory:
'the more complex societies get and the more complex the networks of interdependence within and beyond community and national borders get, the more people are forced in their own interests to find non-zero sum solutions. that is win-win solutions instead of win-lose solutions . . . . because we find as our interdependence increases that, on the whole, we do better when other people do better as well - so we have to find ways that we can all win, we have to accomodate each other . . . . . . .
was reading about swede raoul wallenberg last night and his saving of 100,000 hungarian jews at the behest of roosevelt. kofi anan is married to raoul wallenberg's niece. it is terrible that the russians took him prisoner and he was never heard from again. his 100th birthday is coming up on august 4, 2012. the swedish wallenberg investment banking families fund some of the large astronomy scopes, that's how i found them and first found the story of raoul several years ago from a link on the astronomy picture of the day.
i took 2 new sets of flannel sheets to my neighbors 3 trailers down, i try to do my small part. psyche distress from poverty carries very bad vibes and i can feel those terrible vibes thousands of miles away, i am getting ready to order more williams-sonoma house olive oil which is made from those arbequina olives native to palestine. where can i buy more products from palestine? i will have to google that. best, anna martina
I have not seen WHY those three hikers were in that area. Seems to me they were looking for trouble. They couldn't have hiked the Rocky Mountains or the Swiss Alps??? They were in a volatile area and they intentionally made the decisions to get themselves around the world to tread on dangerous ground.
So, if I'm wrong I'd like to know. How about reporting on their reason for being there?
Kevin, sound like you read my mind, everything you say I agree with.
We need the president of Iran for our borders::o)
Great news about the freed Americans from Iran and none were tortured by the Axis of Evil. Back in the US we are about to execute a man who 7 witnesses say they lied under oath. Many have opinions and the officers family want the man executed regardlesss of guilt or innocent because their love one is gone. In Texas a man was convicted of burning his home with his kids in it. After being found guilty it was learned the fire was an accident as the Gov. Perry refuse to stop the execution. The man was executed and as the Governor said he doesn't lose any sleep over killing an innocent man as even a crowd cheered. We have seen over the years that many in jail are innocent and we really don't get a do over once we kill a person. I don't think we learned from our pass mistakes.
In 1950 I was traveling by train to the South. I saw a man hanging from a tree as bugs were eating his skin and flies were all around him. Surrounding the tree families were enjoying a picnic while watching the man die. I ask my grandmother what kind of people are they and see said your in the South and it's not a crime to kill black people. I saw horror during the 50's and 60's and live to see the men who murdered Emmit Till admit they killed the young boy and even a man who killed Megar Evers came forward when he was dying from Cancer. The man who killed the police officer that Troy Davis is charge, might come forward once he knows he can never be charged with his crimes as Davis will pay the price with his life.
that must be the picture that the time life photographer took and time put on the front cover of their very large edition that honored martin luther king that i bought when it came out. it was about 18" by 24", that issue of the magazine. i gave it to an african-american friend and told her that there could not be blanket 'forgiveness' of the whites. too much water passed under the bridge. just like the native americans must not do the same. if they did, it would all happen ALL OVER AGAIN in a parallel universe and that is not God's intent. there is JUSTICE. there are good people and there are bad people and the bad people do come in every color and they know who they are. don't know the details of the davis case. if he is in fact innocent and they execute him, God has ways of making that right and those that framed him will pay a price, God takes care of that, too. as the world gets crazier and crazier, retribution for wrongs happens in the NOW, not later. best, anna martina
I read recently that God's way is you reap what you sow and is a simple
concept;what goes around comes around and you are right it happens NOW
not later. When the solution is simple, God is answering said Einstein.
Anna as much horror I witnessed I saw some of the best of our country too. Your right their is good and bad but I didn't know it at the time but I learned from some of the best leaders our country has ever had, some of the greatest Americans citizens of all colors and I learned it was the American people who gave their lives for the rights I have today. I passed it on to my kids because no one should forget those who joined to march for change. I guess one think I didn't understand was when Gov. Wallace refuse to let the kids enter the school and Attorney General Kennedy asked his brother the President what he should do. The President said shot him as the National Guard stood with their guns pointed at the Governor. Now it was like wow. Gov. Wallace stepped aside and let the kids in. But I asked my Dad would they rally shot a Governor live on TV, he said yes by order of the President of the United States.
A play on words, karmageddon. Have a nice day all
Good Evening Mr.Williams, a fine broadcast this evening as always. Certainly wonderful news of the two American hikers Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer being released. Seeing them getting off the plane in Oman, Jordan running down the stairs to greet their families was heartwarming. Touching, moving and emotional moment. Truly great the two men are safe and sound.
The report by Ann Curry about the two American hikers release told of a huge sigh of relief by everyone. One can understand why the families stated it was the "Best Day of Our Lives". Catching up and starting anew in hopes for a bright future for all of the families.
On another note the report by Mr.Fletcher showed how the Palestinians were celebrating in rallies supporting statehood. Waving flags and symbols of the region in a reasonably peaceful way. The clashes not spreading all over the region was encouraging. One always hopes for peace within all the Middle East regions. Many tough struggles with so many lives lost. Again, one hopes for a peaceful resolution.
The report by Mr.Pete Williams about the wasteful spending by the Department of Justice at conferences was disturbing and inexusable. Wastefully, spending of exrtemely high prices for bran muffins, snacks, soda and coffee. The budget really needs to be tightened especially with the news of all this excessive spending. Time will tell.
Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. Peace to You and to All!
Be Well Everyone!
Stay Extra,Extra Safe and Well Richard!
