What we're following:
- President Obama to unveil jobs package tonight
- 3 killed, thousands told to evacuate as floods hit the East
- Governor Rick Perry gets hammered in his first debate appearance
And did you see...
- Khaddafy denies he left Libya
- No joke! Ben & Jerry's announces their newest flavor, Schweddy Balls
- Reese Witherspoon hit by car while jogging

The Debate last night gave as many laughs as the movie Hang Over. Huntsman stood alone as the only sane candidate. Interesting the candidate identify themselves as Tea Party while running as Republicans. Sad to hear Perry takes pride in executing innocent people but the shock was hearing people cheer. Bachmann was to funny as she said gas was one dollar a gallon when Obama took office in 2009. Ron Paul is about 100 years late in his mission as he feels poor people would like to abolish minimum wage. Now that takes you back when people were owned. Newt is just out there and hopes for a job and a new wife. Rick who is also unemployed is at lease feeding his family by saying he's running for President. I really wish the real Republican Party would have a candidate enter the race because it's now a circus clown show and an embarrassment.
Gaffafi is hanging on with the help of his US friends and others. You can't blame him as he made deals with many law makers and alot of money was given out. Even the candidates last night attacked Obama for joining in the NATO mission as they said if a country doesn't have US national interest we should stay out of it. This group thinks Americans don't know many of the current law makers were looking to give Gaffafi US weapons and the Bush Administration worked closely with Libya as an ally and even the Carlyle Group and Halliburton were doing alot of business with Libya.
I'll wait to hear what President Obama has to say before making a comment.
Appears you do not give my man Herman Cain a fighting chance. The only real job creator standing on that stage last night.
Herman Cain knows he doesn't have enough support to win but he can be used to get his supporters to vote for the chosen candidate. Now Huntsman was the only understandable speaker. I just wish Chuck Hagel had entered the ran because he is one Republican who can got all people to vote for him. He worked hard all his career and it didn't matter what party you belong to. I always love the Christmas card for the Hagel family.
Chuck Hagel was a liberal republican when he served and I think John Huntsman is one of the same. We need someone in that office that has never been in politics before. Sure could not do any worse than the person occupying the oval office at this time.
We absolutely need term limits. Watched the speech tonight and 25% of the members in the chamber are to old to stand to clap.
Jackie, I respect President Obama and Mitt Romney as well and would be hard pressed
which one I would vote for in 2012; however, it would spice up the Election if there
was a constuitional amendment and former President GW Bush was on that Ticket.
You got him wrong as did all the Bush-bashers. So beat up on yourself over it. Phyllis
correc tion, don't beat up yourself over it, that's politics And Life!!!
Would prefer just posts in the RSS Feed rather than the "what we are following"
"Governor Perry gets hammered in his first debate appearance" - ???? I am not a Perry fan but he received a huge applause for his answer for the 234 people executed in Texas under Perry's administration - and that is getting "hammered"? Brian Williams, with his condescending, smugged attitude doesn't get that he is suppose to be moderating a Republican debate - and not being an agent from MoveOn.org. Mr. Williams is lucky to get out of their unscathed. Mr. Williams was trying so hard to be able to get away with asking the participants "When did you stop being your wife?" so he could use it against them in tonight's broadcast. And if you think I am whacked out for having this opinion, well there are plenty of others from the media today stating the same on the web in their columns about last night.
Every question he ask was from the liberal play book. Would you expect anything else. He and John Harris both made complete A$$es of themselves.
I agree with your assessment of Mr. Williams question for Governor Perry. Most of the questions I thought were tough but fair, however I wonder how Mr. Williams would have answered a similar question that could be posed to him ,(how well do you sleep at night Brian knowing that innocent children are being murdered in the womb by the thousands everyday through abortion)? That particular question by Mr. Williams revealed his left wing bias and diluted his position as an unbiased moderator.
Many Republicans insist Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. I have to ask: What company pension plan isn't a Ponzi scheme?
Your company pension plan contributes a percentage of what you earn into a program and once you qualify you will receive n dollars a year with n+x increase for each additional year and/or pay increase. If you live long enough at some point the money invested in your name will run out but your pension continues until you cease to collect. The additional money comes from the people who are working at the company after you retired.
If the Republicans wants to shut down Social Security because they think it is based upon an idea they consider illegal why aren't they against all the other company retirement pension plans?
The man is smart as the President used the GOP plan that was talked about during the Bush term, but the Law Makers never followed their plan. It was so funny to see many comments attacking the Presidents speech. Let's see if the GOP turn down their own plan to help the people. Just think if the GOP had done their job and did their plan they would out do Obama. It was interesting when he spoke of Social Security that Paul Ryan benefited from it when his Dad died. It makes you wonder what people like the Ryan Family would have done without that income.
Brian, I tuned in to President Obama's Speech, of course, and as he said it is a
challenge to be met before the Election in 2012, and I agree, and would only add
that it is not an excessive challenge as defined by historian Toynbee. All in all,
a forceful speech by the president. It was good to see GE's Jeffrey Immelt there.
In the larger scheme of things, I suppose appearances are shallow, but your
hair appeared darker and was most becoming. Maybe it was the purple tie. Phyllis
Because Obama expressed some kind of desire to have some sort of attack around this 9-11 anniversary? Do'h!!!! Oh Jim
Brian, I was disappointed that at the end of your coverage of The President's speech tonight to hear you say to the American people"...but what most of you watching have on your mind is what is coming up next..." referring to the football game. That was a pretty harsh thing to say to the people who watch and respect you. I thought you respected your public more than that.
You know what most of us feel is helplessness about the absolute standstill we see from our government with regard to almost every thing they need to be addressing. And you expressed it yourself when you talked about how what the President said would now be discussed, torn apart, put back together and you didn't sound too hopeful about the outcome of it all.
Good Evening Mr.Williams, Good broadcasts from Los Angeles last evening and Washington D.C. tonight. You did an excellent job moderating the Republican Debate from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum and Library.
Good coverage of the President's Speech about his Jobs Plan to a joint session of Congress. A vitally important speech and the President was certainly insistent on Congress passing the bill. Calling on Republicans and Democrats to pass the bill. One hopes things will turn for the better in the nation's and world's economy.
On another note the report by Anne Thompson showed some terrible flooding in Forty Fork, Penn. Along with much flooding frm Maryland to New England. Awful to see the waters raging through the town's roads and learning the waters are contaminated. It is staggering the number of homes destroyed and the amount of people residing in shelters. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the people effected by these terrible weather related floods.
The report by Mr.Gray from Texas showed how the wildfires have caused so much destruction to homes. Heartwrenching to hear the young children speak about their homes being lost to the fires. The pictures told it all. So tragic. One hopes the firefighters gain more of an upperhand over the fires and quell the flames quickly.
The report by Mr.Pete Williams about the terror threat showed what disturbing times we live especially around the tenth Anniversary of the Sept. 11th attacks. Local and Federal authorities keeping vigilant and one hopes everyone stays safe.
Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. Peace to You and to All!
Be Well Everyone!
Stay Extra,Extra Safe and Well Richard!
Take Extra Good Care Richard and Crew!

all of those poor people who got flooded out by tropical storm lee. especially those who had already gotten hit by irene. so many disasters going on across the country. all of that on top of the sad economic climate, we may have to put most of america on xanax, ye gods.
back in my manic of 1997 i called the police dept's poison control dept. because i thought i saw 3 scorpions in my apartment. i don't know if they were real or not. at the time, i didn't know about what they call 'cia scorpions', cia coldwar agents gone bad, ronin, rogue, whatever. they undoubtedly have missiles and they probably have enough $ to cover 3 or 4 $300 billion job creation programs, methinks. if i've gotten this much info from my little voice, we're probably pretty damn close to recovering both the missiles and the money, methinks, if they didn't just do both this early morning. maybe now i can relax from sleepless nights and have a good time on my vacation in portland with my family! best, anna martina
anna martina it is never a good idea to go on Xanax because going off of it is not a
walk in the park as i know of whereof I speak and I have lived to tell the tale but you
don't wanna hear it. The doctor meant well, but God meant it for good. Have a
nice vacation in Portlant. Phyllis
Gadhafi has to go so the Libyan people can be free, a universal yearning, and there
is no real safety or satisfaction to be had until all the people of the world are free.
Economic crisis or economic Armaggedon, depending on your worldview,
it is a critical time for our country, and Americans should support
President Obama; and, hopefully, Congress will do the right thing
because as the president said we cannot wait 14 months. I am going
out on a limb but I predict if Congress does not act now 2012 will
be the coming Economic Armageddon which is the supreme ambition of
Lucifer to weaken the nations (Isaiah 14). That is my religious worldview.
It is my wish that in September all nations in the U.N. will embrace
Christiantiy and honor its engraving: "They shall beat their swords into
plowshares...........nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither
shall they learn war anymore." Isaiah 2:4

Peace is the U.N.'s goal for mankind. The United Nations cannot bring
peace to the world by ignoring the Prince of Peace. Radical feminists
believe the Second Coming will be in the form of a woman. Imagine
Glenn Close of Fatal Attraction taking center stage at the U.N., saying,
"I will not be ignored." Get out of here. Only Christ should be exalted
and the mystery of God would be completed, a testimony this of the
perfection of Him and His glorious Kingdom, the purpose of which is
eternal life. So far, so good.
