As an assiduous watcher of World News Tonight with Brian Williams, I am surprised that he or his staff hasn't picked up on the importance of JJ Barea's triumphant participation in the championship win of Dallas over Miami in the NBA championship games. This short basketball player (5'11") played a "David and Goliath" game with the likes of Lebron James of Miami and beat him. Also, watch for Obama's intelligent association with Barea as he goes for the Latino vote in the presidential elections. Obama has already declared in Puerto Rico that he would like to play some "hoops"with Barea. The evidence of Barea's popularity and political asset was amply demonstrated in the overwhelming parade, celebration and reception back home.

Why don't any of the network evening news shows report how much this vacation/"junket" to Africa by the FLOTUS and her daughters, mother, niece, nephew etc. is costing the American taxpayer every day?

If Laura Bush, daughters, mother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins etc would have done this it would

be reported in a negative manner daily in the nightly newscasts. It is so obvious anymore, I think that

Brian Williams should just open his nightly newscast by saying, "I'm Brian Williams, and I am here tonight

to laud the libs, criticize the conservatives, and trash the tea party."

Brian for over two years Americans have wondered by nothing is being done about the Economy and World affairs. Every station has paid millions to fine out what is really going on well finally a Republican leader has answered why nothing will be done and the mission Rush Limbaugh spoke of to assure the President and USA failed and a Republican President gets in office. Here's what Senator Mitch McConnell had to say

McConnell: GOP Would Not Voice Opposition To Libya Campaign If Obama Was A Republican

Once a Republican President gets in office and the GOP gets control of the House/Congress/Senate and the four honest US Supreme Court Justices are removed then the terrorist have won, well the home grown terrorist that is. Right now each State is being fulled with Republican Governors to assure the mission is completed. All this time Americans thought the differences in the Law Makers was about the interest in their districts, now we know it's all about Dictatorship of one Political Party.

Now I can relax and enjoy the summer knowing this is the plan and nothing will get done by the majority GOP.

Anyone in this country who would try to install a one party dictatorship deserves what our military would do to them...................... and then some. Sad to think enough people to pull something like that off would do it while they've been out fighting these 1, 2, 3, 4 (is it 5 yet?) wars.

          Brian,

Just a few thoughts on your program tonight from a commoner. The oil release came on the heals of Ben Bernanke stated at a press conference yesterday that he had no idea why the economy was not responding to all the things the government has thrown at it. Obama threw $830 billion dollars into the system and nothing. The FED has bought up over $600 billion of our own debt and nothing. Now with an election coming, 30 million gallons of oil is taken from the stratigic reserve to try to drive the price down to get a little more money into the consumers pockets hoping they will spend it. To me, this goes against all progressive thought. It is always said that added supply by drilling here will not effect the price of oil but Obamma can take from the emergency supply to drive the price down. Obama has maybe finally figured out that putting more money into the consumers pocket rather than the governments may get things moving. When will you people figure the government cannot create wealth, it can only confiscate it and get in the way of the wealth creaters and Obama, Cass Sunstine, and the EPA gal is doing a great job of getting in the way.

You mentioned that Afganistan is now the longest war in our history. Could it be that we now allow the politicans fight the wars now rather than the generals. No collateral damage and fight not to win .

O, please, you are not common, and don't sell yourself short. You are so singular that you only

resonate with the cream of society in its common culture. And that makes you one of the

            special people.

Anna martina, I may have the wrong artist but I believe when I was with Louisville Central Area, Inc,

an organization dedicated to the revitalization of the City, LCA's Executive Director entertained

him when he was in Louisville. Apology if I got it wrong.

Anna Martina, I am pretty sure I have it right because he was born in 1900 and my parents were

born in 1919. It was all connected with the Louisville Orchestra. Best and have a nice weekend.

with all of the craziness in the world today, i am enjoying listening to the university of arizona's classical musical radio station in the evening and early wee hours when i am still up. they have stories for each piece, it's an interesting way to learn about the composers. copland has a distinctive sound. my mom was born in 1919, she shared her birthday with pope john paul, may 18. they were born a year apart. it's a good thing i live in the boondocks and can't drive both ways to tucson in one night or my little $ would go for concerts and broadway shows! i hope i get to see the boston pops during my lifetime! enjoy your weekend. best, anna martina

Good Evening Mr.Williams, A fine broadcast this evening.

First of all the report by Mr.Costello about the release of oil reserves and how this may help bring gas prices down and also help the economy. It is staggering the amount of oil reserves released being around 30 million barrels and then another 30 million by other countries. It certainly could bring down gas prices and with the summer holiday of the Fourth of July with many people travelling by car this would be helpful. These reserves are intended for an emergency, but with the conflict in Libya and the upcoming summer driving season it seems the Federal Government decided this release was necessary. One hopes things turn for the better in all aspects of the economic crisis.

The report by Mr.Miklaszewski concerning President Obama's speech last evening on the US Troop withdrawal from Afghanistan showed how the decision by the President was thought to put additional risk to the US Troops. The ordering of 10,000 Troops to withdraw by the end of this year then an additional 23,000 by September 2012 could be either good or too risky. Being the longest war there have been too many soldiers lost and it has cost far too much money. One hopes all the US Troops can come home soon.

The report by Mr.Tibbles from Minot, North Dakota told of a catastrophic situation with the river levels rising to far greater than orginally stated. Having 12,000 residents displaced at shelters is tragic especially seeing all the homes already flooded. It is truly sad to hear from people who have lived in the area all their lives and seeing their homes destroyed by massive flood waters. Ones thoughts and prayers go out to all the residents.

The interview with First Lady Michelle Obama by Kristen Welker showed how much the trip means to the First Lady and her two daughters. It is an important trip and it was nice to hear how the First Lady and President Obama talk about the daughter's reactions to all the things from the trip. Truly a great trip for all of them.

The "Making A Difference" segment by Mr.Alexander about the Veterans returning home and the training that helps them find and build skills and their resume to find a job was inspirational. They fought so bravely overseas and then having to struggle to find work after returning home is heartbreaking. But theses job fairs seem to have helped many returning Veterans and give them great hope and sense of purpose to achieve new things. It is wonderful to hear that 1000 Veterans have been placed in jobs. God Bless All of Them!

Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. Peace to You and to All!

                    Be Well Everyone!

Stay Extra,Extra Safe and Well Richard! Enjoyed Seeing You on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last evening! Wonderful Interview!

Brian, Thank you so much for the coverage last night on Churchill Downs. The Tornado Swarm set

county record; in a single day. Most of Louisville escaped big damage, however. Have a nice day Phyllis

Republicans Cantor and Kyl walk out of White House talks on raising the debt ceiling, yet these acts of brinksmanship make neither the NBC Nightly News nor the CBS Evening News (can't speak to ABC; I can Tivo only two programs at a time). On the eve of the deadline, these networks will portray the standoff by casting the blame in equal parts onĀ  both Dems and GOP, and to he11 with the details and the legitimacy of each side's arguments.

if water is the new gold, can't they fill large tankers with water from the flooding rivers and truck it to the states in drought, like texas with it's dry cattle ranges?

New York approval of sames-sex marriage in New York with its National impact sucks because it

makes a mockery of marriage between a man and a woman and that marriage is not one God

honors. However, I am not opposed to the gays. To each his own!!!

It always amazed how God name is used to justify discrimination. I remember when people used the same reasons to block the Civil Rights Bill. It was said God didn't want minorities to have rights but as the bible taught they were to be owned. Everyone who holds the shield up the the God's order of marriage seems to disobey those orders. I congratulate the gays because I know what it's like to be discriminated on and wouldn't do it to anyone. For Americans who were blessed to be born with all the rights America has to offer it's understandable that they may not agree. How many Bills have to be written before all Americans have equal rights?

Jackie, It is a tribute to this Blogg that both of our opposing viewpoints were printed and not

deleted. On Huffpost, my comments were later censored and 14 in reply disagreeing with me

were printed which I resent. Talk about discrimination, which I have also experienced in my

life, but, I would not have a collection of thousands of books if I had been on speaking terms

with that bunch of phoneys; so, I am a philospical, eternal optimist who believes that "it

all works together, for good for those who love God" etc but justice always prevails,, and like

that song, paraphasing, "We could have been together, but you reap what you sow." Yes,

to each his own, but I prefer men, and that is my preference. I disagree with you, because

I do not think same-sex marriage is right, but I will defend your right to say it, as Volitare said.

                                Best, always, Phyllis
