Watching the weather and covering a launch

While our attention has been riveted on several major stories: Libya, New Zealand and Wisconsin, it's important to remember that millions of our viewers in the South are about to be in the path of an angry and churning weather system. It is actually shaped like a trailing tornado cloud...an intense tail of a moving front bringing severe weather to several places, and the Weather Channel is ready for what the storms may bring.

And we watched as the Shuttle Discovery launched today, one last time for the spacecraft that took John Glenn back into space. During takeoff, the fuel burned off could fill two average size swimming pools every minute. It never ceases to be a magnificent sight.

We hope you can join us tonight.

Brian: The shuttle voyage (sts-133) is finally in earth orbit. As you know, the original launch date was November 5th of last year. All of the technical staff who worked dilegently to make this finally happen should be congratulated for their fine effort for pulling off this launch. It is always breathtaking to watch a launch from liftoff until the achievment of orbit. The shuttle Discovery has piled up the most mileage in space. This flight will be its last mission, and then it will be headed for a museum so everyone will pay tribute to the old workhorse in person. This piece of good news is a deserved break from other troublesome news. I'll catch you on tonight's broadcast.

You seemed so comfortable while your were reporting about the Easy Bake Oven, I can just picture you at around 7 or 8 yrs old with your pink Easy Bake making a batch of cookies . . . . anyway . . . Enjoyed watching your interview with Gayle this morning, glad she had you on first, thought I was gonna have to suffer thru Lady Gaga's interview, but I would have, ONLY for you Bri . . . !

Brian, I would think that since all the countries are being affected by the price of oil, they would unite

in once voice as concerns Gahafi, make a decision and take action. With all the condemnation expressed

I don't understand why someone does not step forward. I was shocked to hear the news about

the bomb plot on former President Bush. He's right: "You are either with us or you are with the

terrorists." A great president and a decent man. That said, I see a golden opportunity to change

the course of history in the Middle East. Who is The Man of The Hour? Kentucky is expecting

rain, storms and possible flooding of the Ohio River, some coming from New York. Sorry I missed

your interview with Gayle this morning but it could not be helped. I could not keep my eyes open.

      Have a nice evening. Phyllis

Good Evening Mr.Williams, Another great broadcast this evening. Always wonderful to see Richard on the broadcast! Please Stay Extra,Extra Safe and Well Richard!

First of all Richard's report from Benghazi and how this city has become the unofficial capital of Libya with laywers, judges taking control and even a radio station called "Free Libya". The fighting in and around the Tripoli continues with rebels closing in on the city to take control believing they have enough force to get rid of the regime. Seeing the hopital in Benghazi showed so many wounded and by bullets and anti aircraft fire with hundreds killed. As Richard stated while listening to Gadhafi's speech saying the leader was all over the place making it difficult to follow. The statements made by Gadhafi don't make any sense showing he is insane and extremely dillusional. Even his son stating the capital of Tripoli is safe and secure is an outrageous comment. Teh fighting in Benghazi, cities around Tripoli reveal the rebels certainly are taking control of much of the country and believing they have enough force to overthrow Gadhafi in a matter of days. The airport crowded with people desperately trying to leave the country along with the British warship taking many nationalists out of the region. A frightening situation and one hopes everyone trying to leave gets out safely.

        Excellent Reporting As Always Richard!

The report by Mr.Fletcher showed how people are waiting many hours for their boat to be able to leave for the island of Malta in order to escape the violence of Libya. It is disturbing they are receiving so little information, yet at least they are gettig food and water aboard the boat. One hopes the weather conditions improve to make it safer for the vessel to travel since there has been high swells in the waters. One hopes things calm so the boat can set sail tomorrow.

The report by Mr.Costello regarding gas prices showed how all the turmoil in Libya and other countries affects the price of gas at the pumps. Hearing prices will go up to $4.00 or $5.00 a gallon can effect people's travel plans. Then the price of airline tickets which have major impacts on the business traveler along with famlies. A strain on the troubled economy when one hopes things will get better.

Nice to see the space shuttle Discovery taking off today with a beautiful launch. It is sad it is the last mission for the space shuttle.

The report about the military using soldiers to manipulate Senators to give funding to the war was terribly disturbing to learn. One can fully understand why the officer named Holmes refused to carry out the order which is illegal. The investigation ordered by General Petraeus should reveal who was responsible for giving out these orders.

Sort of sad to see for many the Easy Bake Oven will no longer be able to be used with the new lightbulbs. So many children enjoyed making brownies and cakes being heated by the lightbulb. The end of a toy era.

The piece by Mr.Miller concerning Prince William and Kate Middleton's official outing was very nice and Kate Middleton certainly seemed to be very well received. Nice to see her christen a lifeboat even though it wasn't a big ship it was great to see the couple in Wales. A modest and joyful event for the people of Wales to see their next princess. She will make a great princess.

Thank You for the broadcast Mr.Williams. Peace to You and to All!

        Be Well Everyone!

Stay Extra,Extra Safe and Well Richard! Excellent Reporting on Today and all other news shows!

Take Extra Good Care Richard and Crew!

Early out here on the West Coast and all the talk about the National Debt and the Budget of cuts that divided the Law Makers. Few notice the following

Study: US wasted billions in Iraq, Afghanistan Corruption and waste has cost the US government billions of reconstruction dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Yes wasteful spending and taxpayers have to foot the lost. Each Law Makers blaming everyone and anyone for the National Debt set back and watched the taxpayers money given away and these guys voted an approval to the spending. One little written article was about a new company with a 20 plus owner who got a billion dollar contract from the Government. A freelance reporter checked on the company and the work they were paid to do in Iraq. To his surprise two weeks after the money was paid to the company they closed and did nothing. When asked why the US didn't get the money back there was no response. All the demands now made for answers to what Obama is doing even what his Family is doing would never be allowed during the Bush years. Americans dare not question the Bush Administration as Cheney made it clear it was not the people's place to question the President.. Law Makers dare not question the actions for fear of Cheney. All knew stealing and lying was being done and even once strong/honest leaders like General Powell folded and bowed to the orders of the Bush Administration. For 8 years gave the appearance of a nation of freedom and democracy while really the USA was run by Crooks.

Gaddafi is using the same thing used in the US when you need someone to blame. Just say Bin Laden's name and people believe. When ever the need for a corrupt policy was need say Bin Laden and it put the fear back in people. As for the oil prices going up, didn't see anyone complaining when we were told oil prices would be really low with the invasion of Iraq as Cheney said we could drill for oil. With the US in two Wars and threatening other countries with oil, nobody cared the people of the Middle East were living off of 2 dollars a day. Each of the Middle East Dictators enjoyed a good relationship with the USA. Halliburton has offices in Libya and Iran while Cheney has the Leaders on speed dial. Many have suggesting for what President Obama should do now with the US gas prices going up. He is a smart man and knows you work with the people of countries and not listen to those who would rather see him out of office.

Some have said the Middle East revolution was done to Bush asking for elections in the Middle East. Well we don't see citizens who finally got freedom thank Bush. We do see a Saudi student playing to kill Bush and even countries issueing warrants for Bush's arrest for War Crimes. Americans who are suffering from the death of their soldiers aren't honoring Bush or Cheney. Americans who are now asked to pay for the wasted/stolen Federal money aren't all that happy about honoring the group that cause the problem. We have just as big problems here in the US as those in other countries. Rand Paul wants to go back pre Constitution and revisit the Constitution Convention when the founding fathers were discussing the Constitution. Rand forgot the Constitution was celebrated in 1776 and the Convention was 1700. Some many Law Makers are talking like nutters and clearly on a personal mission. The Koch Bros. have brought so many Law Makers and Judges it's like a take over. Good news is the smart educated Americans have stepped up and demanding our country back. Koch Bros. are sending their Tea Party out to counter attack and many just don't know what to think.

see you same time same place
