Heavy rotation: Aretha Franklin

After hearing about Aretha Franklin's worrisome six-month "medical leave" from any public appearances or performances, as mandated by her doctors, the Nightly newsroom tonight was a cacophony of competing favorites from the Queen of Soul -- among them "Chain of Fools," "Rock Steady," and "Baby I Love You." (A certain anchorman even confessed to having felt, on occasion, "like a natural woman," thanks to her music.)

So along with the many millions of her fans the world over, we'll be keeping her in our hearts, and in our ears, as we hope for her recovery. And a quick hat tip to NPR Music for resurfacing an amazing Soul Train performance of Franklin singing "Ooo Baby Baby" with Smokey Robinson.
