Happy Monday all,
Really good info from the story of the "Oxford English Dictionary" piece. The respected dictionary printed version versus online usage...sign of our modern times. This article strengthens the debate between us Jamaican - Americans versus the "real" Americans.
My Jamaican pal believes in "old" "aged" England educational standards as being "better and more respected." My American pals beg to differ, highlighting the popularity and respect of American Universities such as: Yale, Harvard, Princeton.
Then my Jamaican pal has a witty reply: "Oxford, Cambridge." The debate continues.. they are all excellent universities.
The President's Iraq address needs to include serious plans for Afghanistan. Do not like the rising casualty count. These are souls dying and families having to grieve. So happy Iraq is now a success.
We have a question-
The Oxford English Dictionary has the honors of being the "authoritative guide to the English language."
Why is this? Why does the British version carry more weight than all others?
