I am typing onto a BlackBerry keyboard in a police car moving through the Lower Ninth Ward. We just went out on a search mission with a body recovery team. Earlier, we covered President Bush's visit with Habitat For Humanity volunteers at a building site and I had a conversation with the President which we'll show you tonight. We talked about the FEMA report, his poll numbers, his promises to New Orleans and gas prices. The President was in a very upbeat mood and stayed well beyond his scheduled time. As we drive, two escort fighter jets flew overhead... in connection no doubt with the President's planned helicopter trip to Mississippi and back. We will originate the broadcast from a levee tonight (a first for us in all our trips here) and we will of course handle the rest of the day's news from here as well.
We hope you can join us tonight.
